Firstly , I went into the dark room and cut stuck a piece of photography paper onto the inside of my pinhole camera ( I used an old phone box). Then when I was walking outside I made sure the pinhole was completely covered and is not exposed to any light. Once I got outside I asked someone else to hold the flap back for 10-15 seconds.
How are they made ?
A pinhole camera is made by punching or drilling a small hole with a sewing needle through a foil , aluminium or a brass sheet. Then the piece is taped to the inside of a dark ,black box and then a hole is cut through the box. Oatmeal boxes cylindrical crisp can (e.g Pringles) and old phone boxes or anything you have lying around that is circular or rectangle are able to use to turn into a pinhole camera.
What kind of photographs do they make ?
The photographs usually come out as a circular photograph inside of a black frame on the outside.
What tools / materials might you need to make one ?
Cylindrical crisp can (Pringles)
old phone box, old oatmeal box , old hot chocolate container or just any container you have around your house
Aluminium foil or brass sheet , waxed or photography paper and construction paper
Tape
Straight pin
Ruler
Pen marker
Xacto knife , utility knife or box cutter
Here are my attempts at the pinhole camera:
I love how my pictures turned, I admire the dark gothic look they have.I was able to make use of a '"happy accident" with the circle that formed around the second picture. If I were to re-attempt a pinhole photo process I would try to make the images clearer as it's quite difficult to actually see what is going on in the image. Next time I would also produce even more so I can really refine the final products.
